Cupping
Cupping is a fantastic tool for any Myotherapist to use. Its great for several different techniques including slide cupping, static cupping and functional cupping.
Slide cupping is a nice way to start your Myotherapy session as it warms the fascia and allows a deeper treatment in a more time efficient manner. I tend to use soft silicone cups for this as it doesn’t hurt going over bony landmarks.
Static cupping is very effective for restricted fascial tension and releasing trigger points. This method does leave circular marks that do take several days to weeks to resolve. I tend to use glass cups for this technique.
Functional cupping is a wonderful technique for getting joints and muscles moving. This is done with plastic cups and the patient moves a particular area of their body whilst wearing the cups to promote movement.
